About Us

Our Story

GranMade India was born in 2017 at London College of Fashion as part of a thought provoking business plan submission by our founder, Rachita Arora.

GranMade's innovative business idea which solves a neglected cause was well appreciated in the U.K. where it was published by University of Warwick's Ethics and Enterprise Research. GranMade then went onto become a runner's up at the Green Gown Globe Award as part of LCF's final submission.
At present, GranMade ships worldwide and hosts pop-up shops pan-India.

Our artisan network is increasing rapidly, enabling our vision of Accessorising Life. We are here for the long run. Each GranMade product provides warmth in the lives of both our artisans and our customers. An empowered sense of being for our artisans and a sweet, cozy nostalgia for our customers.

Founder's Note

A question that changed my life-

It was winter of 2016, when my loving Dadi innocently asked - “Main tere lie kya bunoon meri laado? Tu London mein rehti hai jahaan itni thand padhti hai- main chahti hoon ki tere paas kuchh aisa ho jo tujhe garam rakhe aur mere pyaar ki yaad dilaye.”

All of a sudden, sweet memories of my Dadi knitting tirelessly came rushing back. How beautifully she poured her heart into creating something just for me, every year, without a fail. It is then, when I realized how in every Indian home, there’s a grandma who knits out of love. How knitting is her love language.

And that feeling when you receive something that’s been knit just for you? Priceless.

Then there was no looking back, I wanted everyone to be reminded of that feeling. To feel special and to seek that warmth we so often yearn in the fast-paced lives we lead. That feeling of comfort, nostalgia and boundless affection. A love that is sacred between a grandma and their grandchild. Hence, GranMade was born! To provide you with that sweet, cozy feeling of your grandma’s hug. (You know what I’m talking about!)

We at GranMade value respect, love and warmth above all else. Our eco-system is dependent on it. We want the makers of our products, our talented women artisans, to be at the forefront. Unethical manufacturing practices have become a norm in the fashion industry and we are here to change that. Disrupt it with our adamant belief that there exists a harmony between fair fashion and premium quality products. One does not have to imbalance the other for growth, rather work hand-in-hand. I am proud to say that 10-30% of each product MRP goes back to our artisans- which is a minimum of 33.3% more than average industry standards.

That is what we have created here at GranMade- a safe space where the maker and the wearer both feel the love and warmth with which we operate.

So welcome and thank you for your visit, happy shopping!
